Where We Make a Difference
MIA focuses on a few high-impact initiatives.
Working with partners like Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, Brookfield, and local communities, we’re turning concern into action; on the water, under the night sky, and across generations.
Water Quality
We monitor water quality, prevent invasive species, and support science-based management of lake levels in partnership with Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust and others. Courtesy boat inspections and invasive patrols keep our waters among the cleanest in Maine.
Dark Sky
We’re working with regional partners to create the Western Maine Dark Sky Reserve, protecting some of the most pristine night skies in the United States and keeping our nights as remarkable as our days.
NextGen
Our NextGen Initiative brings younger members and families together to build lasting connections—with each other and with the lakes—so the next generation is ready to lead.
